St. Bonaventure rising junior guard Jaylen Adams has been chosen to participate in the prestigious adidas Nations basketball camp this week in Los Angeles.
Adams is one of a select group of collegiate players who will serve as counselors at the July 28 – Aug. 1 event, which will be held at the Next Level Sports Complex. The adidas Nations features elite U-19 players from the U.S., Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and Latin America with top college players. The participants will train and learn from each other as well as a panel of NBA players, coaches and scouts. The event will include skills sessions, video analysis and drills as well as 5-on-5 competitions. Over 75 NBA scouts and team personnel are expected to attend.
“This is an honor for Jay to be selected to adidas Nations,” said Bonnies coach Mark Schmidt. “It’s another sign of how well respected he is. I think he can learn a lot there and continue to grow as a player entering his junior season.”
Last season, Adams was named to the All-Atlantic 10 first team and to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 4 second team. He tied for eighth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 17.9 points per game, led the A-10 in three-point field goal percentage (.438) and finished fourth in free throw percentage (.874). The Baltimore, Md., native also averaged 5.0 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game. He helped lead St. Bonaventure to a share of the A-10 regular season title with a 14-4 mark. The Bonnies finished 22-9 overall and advanced to the NIT.
Adams has scored 758 points over his first two seasons.
