The state attorney general’s office has cleared Bradford City Police of any wrong-doing in the case of a man who says an officer assaulted his deaf grandson.
The attorney general’s officer took over the case regarding 23-year-old Brister Campbell because of a conflict of interest in the district attorney’s office.
Campbell’s grandfather Don Cummins filed a formal complaint saying officers Matthew Gustin and Jason Putt assaulted the young man during a traffic stop on April 1.
In a letter to McKean County District Attorney Ray Learn, deputy attorney general Patrick Schulte says “after a thorough investigation, criminal charges are not warranted at this time.”
Police Chief Chris Lucco tells WESB he wasn’t surprised by the outcome of the attorney general’s investigation.
Lucco added that the new body worn cameras will alleviate issues like this.
The cameras are a donation from a private citizen and come with no cost to taxpayers.
