The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed left tackle Alejandro Villanueva to a four-year contract worth $24 million. An exclusive rights free agent who had not signed his $615,000 tender, Villanueva was one of two Steelers players without a contract on the eve of training camp.
Now, there’s just Le’Veon Bell, who hasn’t signed his $12.12 million franchise tag tender and is a training camp holdout after failing to report by Thursday afternoon’s deadline. Bell’s only choice is to play under the franchise tag this season. The Steelers expect Bell to be on the field for the September 10 opener against the Cleveland Browns.
