A story of missed opportunities as the Buffalo Bills squandered an early lead last night in their preseason exhibition game against the Carolina Panthers.
Chris Ivory dropped a pass from Nathan Peterman, allowing the Panthers to intercept. Then AJ McCarron got sacked in his very first play in a Bills uniform. And things went downhill from there. By the time the dust had cleared, Buffalo had lost to Carolina 28-23.
During his post-game press conference, head coach Sean McDermott acknowledged the weaknesses in the younger Bills players’ game, referring to it as “a tale of two halves,” and citing poor fundamentals as one of the main reasons for the loss.
The mood for the game was set during warm-ups, when Kelvin Benjamin refused to talk to his former teammate Cam Newton when the Carolina quarterback tried to talk with him. Benjamin had some very nasty things to say about Newton on Twitter shortly after being traded to Buffalo earlier this year.
The Bills travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns next Friday.
