St. Bonaventure lost a heartbreaker to 6th seed St. Louis the in the Atlantic 10 Championship game yesterday afternoon 55-53.
The Bonnies led throughout much of the contest and saw as much as a 15 point lead in the first half. But lost a hard fought battle after seeing St. Louis battle back and take back the lead with about 7 minutes left in regulation. Courtney Stockard hit a late 3 to make it a two-point game with 58 seconds left, and the Bonnies had a chance to win or tie after a defensive rebound off a missed St. Louis free throw. But Nelson Kaputo, who only played in the last minute of the game, missed a last second three pointer, and that would put an end to their chances at the A10 title, and the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
Courtney Stockard led St. Bonaventure with 22 points while LaDarien Griffin added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bonnies are 18-16 on the season and could still make the NIT or CBI postseason Tournament.
