Construction on a new café at Bradford Regional Medical Center is expected to start next month.
The hospital’s food service provider, Aramark, is investing $591,000 for the new café and $130,000 for a new dish room.
“We have all been anxiously awaiting the construction of our new café. This new cafeteria will provide hospital staff and visitors with a much more comfortable, relaxing and attractive environment to enjoy,” said Julie Becker, general manager, food and nutrition services, Aramark, BRMC.
Becker said some of the changes include an expanded dining room and complete facilities upgrade including the HVAC system and new LED/energy efficient lighting. In addition to all new state-of-the-art/energy efficient cooking equipment, the renovations will also include the installation of a new wood stone pizza oven. The ceramic tile cladded unit will not only provide additional cooking options for customers but will also add a dramatic ambiance with its exposed fire flame to enhance the customers experience while dining at BRMC.
The dish room will have energy efficient upgrades including a brand new dish machine with an internal energy efficient booster heater for high temperature sanitization. Like the café, it will also see facilities upgrades such as a complete rework of the existing subfloor, a brand new acrylicon seamless poured floor and new stainless steel wall panels.
Becker said work will begin in June and take approximately eight weeks to complete. During construction, temporary serving and seating areas will be noted with signage.
“We are very excited to be able to offer our employees this beautiful new café and look forward to the grand opening this summer,” Becker said.
