A state police fire marshal says the cause of a fire that heavily damaged an Eldred apartment house this morning is undetermined.
The fire at 233 North Main Street was reported at 2 a.m. when a tenant awoke to the smoke detector going off and saw fire inside his apartment.
Everyone was able to get out of the building.
The victims are listed as property owner Gordon Taylor of Eldred; Frank Pierce, Jeanine Jones, Joshua Pierce, Demetre Dixley, Colleen Grimm, a 13-year-old boy, 10-year-old girl, 6-year-old girl, and 11-year-old boy, all of Eldred; and Joseph Witte and Amanda Witte, and a 6-year-old and 9-year-old girl, all of Louisville, Louisiana.
Damage is estimated at $190,000.
