Today is National “I Love Lucy” Day, started to celebrate one of the greatest television shows of all time.
The groundbreaking show made its debut on October 15, 1951.
According to the National Day Calendar, it was the first scripted television show to be shot live on 35mm film in front of a studio audience. In four of its six seasons it was the most watched show in the United States. It was the first to end its run at the top of the Nielsen ratings.
Suggested ways to celebrate include watching an “I Love Lucy” marathon and using #NationalILoveLucyDay to post on social media.
We suggest heading to Jamestown and checking out some of the many Lucy-related activities there.
