Almost everyone knows there’s a heroin problem in the area, but what they may not know is the options for recovery.
Here’s one:
Open Arms Community Church in Bradford has joined the national Celebrate Recovery network that deals with not only substance abuse but addictions such as food, gambling and other behaviors.
Recovering alcoholic Dan Minich says one of the benefits of this type of program is it shows you you’re not alone.
Celebrate Recovery will be on Friday nights at the church on East Main Street starting at 7 p.m
You can hear more from Dan, as well as Tina Phillips and Pastor Mike McAvoy by going to t http://wesb.com.on-demand and clicking on today’s LiveLine, or by going to http://openarmsbradford.org and clicking on the Celebrate Recovery tab.
Another group is planning a heroin education roundtable and education event later this month. The city police and fire departments, as well as medical professionals will be providing information about addiction, and even showing people what some of the drug paraphernalia and packaging material looks like up close. One reason for that is so parents and caregivers know what to look for.
The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 25 at Grace Lutheran Church.
We’ll have much more on the heroin education event in the next few days. Stay tuned!
