The Chicago Cubs blanked the Pirates Wednesday night 4-0 in the one game NL Wild Card game in Pittsburgh on WESB. Jake Arrieta allowed four hits in nine dominant innings to earn the win with 11 strikeouts and no walks. It was another one-and-done postseason appearance for the Pirates, who put up little resistance in a wild-card defeat to Arrieta and the Cubs. The Cubs had the best road record in baseball and the Pirates had the second best overall record in the majors and are done. The Cubs face the St. Louis Cardinals beginning Friday in an NLDS series.
