The Serenity Glass Park was dedicated Friday afternoon in Port Allegany. The glass park was the idea of resident and owner of the historic Fireside Inn, Susan Carlson. Linda Devlin of the Alleghany National Forest Visitors Bureau was one of the people who helped Carlson and her team to get the Serenity Glass Park project off the ground. The project brought together local and regional industries and artistic talents to create an unique glass park in the town of Port Allegany. Devlin spoke with WESB at a luncheon following the dedication of the park yesterday. She says the new attraction will have a positive impact on the regional and local economy. The Serenity Glass Park is also a showcase of regional industries that revolve around glass, stone, natural gas, and lumber. Work on the Serenity Glass Park will continue with the help of public funding. No tax payer dollars were used in the first phase of the Serenity Glass Park. If you would like to donated to the park you can purchase a glass block for 20 or 50 dollars by getting an order form from a variety of Port Allegany merchants and banks. You can also call Susan Carlson at 814-642-2627 to make a donation to the project. The Serenity Glass Park is located at the corner of Main and Mill Streets in the town of Port Allegany.
