National Drug Takeback Day is October 22, and the Drug Enforcement Administration says there are plenty of places in the area to drop off your unwanted medications.
Those places include the Penn State Extension Office in Smethport, the City of Bradford Police Station; City of Warren Police Station; Warren State Police barracks; the Cattaraugus County Office Building in Olean; the Salamanca Municipal Building; and the Lionel R. John Health Center in Salamanca.
All the site will be collecting medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., except the Bradford police station, which will only be collecting until 1 p.m.
All unwanted prescription drugs, over the counter drugs, and veterinarian drugs will be accepted. You won’t be asked any personal information, and you can use a black marker to cover information on your prescription bottles.
Everything collected will be safely disposed of in an approved medical waste incinerator.
Needles and sharps will not be accepted.
