While no official confirmation has been made, family members and festival organizers are acting as if a body found in Sherman, New York on Thursday is that of a Warren man missing for almost a week.
Condolences were posted throughout the day on social media yesterday by the family of 23 year old Sven Blumquist, and a statement by one of the organizers of the Blue Heron Music Festival, which Blumquist had been attending before wandering away from his campsite around 1 AM last Sunday morning, offered condolences to the family.
The statement by organizer Julie Rockcastle said “All of us at the Blue Heron Music Festival are deeply saddened by the loss of Sven Blumquist.” It continues “Words can’t really express how terrible we feel about this and how we feel for the family.”
Conewango Township and New York State Police, along with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department and state forest rangers had been searching the area in Sherman, NY, where the Festival took place when a body was recovered on Thursday.
Conewango Township Police Lt. Randy Carlson said that the New York State Police are in charge of identifying the body, and do not have a firm identification yet, saying “a body was recovered, we just don’t know who it is.”
