Fire damaged the basement of a house that people were getting ready to move into on Abbott Road.
At just before 6:30 this morning, city firefighters were called to 41 Abbott Road. When they got there they found heavy brown smoke coming from the basement, and called a second alarm. Captain J.D. Tehle says an aggressive attack contained the fire to the basement and first floor.
“They did a great job containing it (mostly) to the basement,” Tehle said. “Basement fires are always pretty difficult.”
He said they had it under control by 7:27, exactly an hour after they got the call.
Tehle said the fire did start in the basement. A state police fire marshal will be in town on Tuesday to investigate further.
There was smoke damage throughout the house.
No one was hurt.
Bradford Township firefighters provided the Rapid Intervention Team.
