An emergency responder accidentally hit a person who was trying to flag down sheriff’s deputies who were responding to a possible overdose.
Deputies say at just before 5:30 this morning they were called to the intersection of Route 20 and Lake Avenue in Brocton. 68-year-old David Hazelton, a member of the fire department’s rescue squad was turning onto Lake Avenue, when he hit 42-year-old Christopher Small of Fredonia, who was in the street. Hazelton stopped to treat Small, who was then taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Deputies didn’t release any further information about the possible overdose.
