Pennsylvania’s hemp industry could be making a return.
Earlier this week, the state House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee approved legislation to go ahead with a program authorized by the US Department of Agriculture.
State Rep. Marty Causer chairs the committee.
Hemp is used to manufacture products such as paper, cloth, rope and building materials. Americans import hemp products from around the world because cultivation is largely banned in the United States.
The bill now goes to the full House for consideration.
