State attorney general Kathleen Kane is expected to announce on Tuesday who will lead a new investigation of the government email scandal.
She will also explain the person’s duties in regard to the investigation involving pornographic, lewd and other inappropriate emails exchanged between lawyers, judges and other in the state government.
Kane is facing perjury and other charges related to the scandal, but not for sending or receiving emails. She is accused of leaking secret grand jury testimony to a reporter, and then lying about it.
The state Supreme Court has suspended her law license, and a state Senate committee voted last week to recommend the process that could remove her from office.
Kane argues that, although the process is laid out in the state Constitution, it’s unconstitutional. It’s never been used before.
