Kyle Busch ties Petty’s record with his 200th career win yesterday.
Busch was in the middle of dominating yet another race on Sunday when a speeding penalty on pit road dropped him to the middle of the pack at Auto Club Speekway. Busch would have to pass 17 cars in 73 laps to hit the landmark 200th victory across NASCAR’s three major series.
Busch however, in his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, didn’t even need 50 laps to do so. He capped off the comeback by passing Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski to take back the lead and win the Cup Series Race.
The win marks Kyle Busch’s 200th win, which ties Richard Petty’s NASCAR record, and puts him in prime position to become NASCAR’s overall career victories leader.
Penske Teammates Logano and Keselowski stayed put for the rest of the race and finished 2nd and 3rd.
Kevin Harvick and Ryan Blaney rounded out the top 5, giving Ford 4 out of the top five finishers.
