A man accused of threatening to kill a cab driver and stealing his cab is in Cattaraugus County Jail.
State police say 24-year-old Darrin Hunter of Olean took a cab from Buffalo to Olean, where claimed he couldn’t pay the fare. The driver stopped at the 7-Eleven in Allegany, where Hunter pointed an air pistol at the driver’s head and threatened to kill him.
The driver put the car in reverse, jumped out and went into the store, where he asked the clerk to call 911. Hunter drove away, and later crashed on I-86 in the Town of Carrollton.
After being treated for minor injuries, Hunter was arraigned and sent to jail on $25,000 bail.
