A man who set a fire in his Allegany home has been sentenced to five years’ probation, and must pay restitution.
41-year-old Harry Scull was charged with attempted insurance fraud after a months-long investigation into the fire on Buffalo Road on April 6 of last year.
The Cattaraugus County Fire Investigation Team said the investigation took several months because the building was blown apart so they had to sift through all the charred pieces of the house to do their investigation. They never did say what caused the fire, but did say witnesses reported hearing and feeling an explosion.
No one was hurt.
