The Bills have been exchanging contract proposals with defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, though no deal is imminent. Dareus, the two-time Pro Bowler is entering the final year of his contract with the Bills this season. According to General Manager Doug Whaley, those type of contracts are always a challenge. He goes on to explain that the Bills are already committed to paying defensive end Mario Williams a $12.1 million base salary this season.
It is expected that Dareus will draw a hefty price, as he draws comparisons to some of the NFL’s top young defensive linemen. Last season was his best to date, as he led NFL defensive tackles with a career-high 10 sacks.
Whaley says that he is confident they will reach an agreement where everybody feels that everybody wins.
