The Center for Rural Pennsylvania is holding its next hearing on the heroin and opioid crisis in the Commonwealth on Thursday.
This will be the ninth hearing and Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman says one of the issues they’re looking at is alternatives to sending addicts to prison.
Center director Barry Denk reiterated that they are now focusing on treatment and recovery.
During a hearing earlier this month in Bradford, the board listened to Blossburg, PA, Mayor Shane Nickerson, a recovering addict who has been clean for 25 years.
