New York food stamp recipients will be able to use their benefits to purchase groceries on-line under a pilot program launching today.
Amazon and Walmart are kicking off a two-year program established by the Federal Government to allow SNAP recipients to order and pay for their groceries online. Shop-Rite will be joining the program early next week.
The US Department of Agriculture, which oversees SNAP, will use the program to test online ordering and payment with benefits, and hopes to expand the program other retailers and other states as time goes on.
