The Bradford Area Public Library is having a Poetry Slam on Monday, August 28th from 3:00-4:00pm.
A poetry slam is a competition at which creative performance artists read or recite their original works of poetry. The first poetry slam was held in Chicago in 1984 and was made popular by American Poet Marc Smith who began experimenting with an open microphone performance venues for poetry. The poetry slam movement has grown exponentially. Aspiring poets can share their works and passion for poetry with others.
Paige Thomas, a local high school student and poet, is organizing the event. If you want to share your poetry, please contact the Bradford Area Public Library to register at (814) 362-6527 or register at the circulation desk.
