The man police believe robbed a Community Bank in Ellicott, New York, on Thursday is in custody.
Police caught Albert Chapman after he allegedly tried to rob the Kwik Fill on Forest Avenue in Ellicott at knifepoint last night. They say he went into the store at 11:35 p.m. and demanded cash. He didn’t get any.
Police found Chapman a short distance away and, during their investigation, linked him to the bank robbery about 12 hours earlier. They say he left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Chapman is charged with two counts of robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. The investigation is continuing, and police expect to file more charges.
