The Kansas City Royals topped the Yankees Monday night 8-5. The Yankees stumbled out of the gate in the first inning as Michael Pineda allowed three runs and five hits as the Pinstripes fell behind 3-0. Pineda then retired 15 straight before allowing a three run homer in the 7th. Yankees manager Joe Girardi’s frustration was evident when he was tossed by plate umpire Brian O’Nora for arguing balls and strikes with the bases loaded and no outs in the eighth inning. Didi Gregorius had a two-run double and Starlin Castro drove in two runs with two singles.
