Two people are facing charges for stealing $5,000 from a Chautauqua County business.
Sheriff’s deputies say 31-year-old Eric Woolschlager and 26-year-old Ashley Johnson, both from the Town of Ellery, are accused of stealing 16 checks from a business that police didn’t name, forging them and cashing them at two other area businesses.
Wooschlager is charged with 16 counts of possession of a forged instrument and grand larceny. He had heroin with him when he was arrested, so he was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Johnson is charged with forgery.
They are both jailed without bail.
