Bradford Water Authority Chairman Ron Orris has announced the appointment of Steve Disney to the position of Executive Director Designate effective June 15, 2016. Longtime Executive Director Kim Benjamin is set to retire this August 15th and Steve Disney shall assume that position after that date.
Disney joins the Authority from Georgia Pacific, LLC where he has worked in supervision and upper management for 33 years including tenure as Plant Superintendent, Plant Manager and his current position as Director of Operations. During his career at Georgia Pacific he developed operational budgets, strategically planned Operational and Maintenance activities, negotiated many labor agreements, oversaw the installations of large capital projects, and had an excellent history and experience in managing people, processes, and improving operations.
Disney is also a member of The Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department and has held various positions including Lieutenant and Vice-President.
Disney and his wife Karen are the parents of two sons, Dan (Ashley) Disney and Shawn Disney.
Upon assumption of Executive Director of the Bradford City Water Authority duties, he shall be responsible for oversight of the 6,300 customer based water distribution system serving the 18,000 residents of the Tuna Valley, plant management of the 6.5 million gallon per day water treatment plant as well as land management of the Authority’s 12,000 acres watershed.
Just as the current Executive Director, he shall be responsible to work with the Authority Board to develop both present and long term capital improvement and maintenance programs for the benefit of the water system and the customers they serve.
Kim Benjamin, who completes a stellar 33-year career with the water authority, has done an outstanding job and the board extends their congratulations on a job well done, and they wish him all the best in his retirement.
