A play written by a Shinglehouse woman has been published by Pioneer Drama Service, which has been publishing plays and musicals specifically for the educational, community and children’s theater markets for more than 50 years.
Cheri Maxson’s melodrama “Murder at the Malt Shop” is set in the 1950s in the little town of Shingleville, where a group of quirky characters all have a motive to kill the reprehensible Jerry Atrick, who falls over dead after a blackout.
It was first performed as the senior class play for Oswayo Valley High School in 2010.
Maxson teaches at Portville Central School and is also an adjunct instructor for the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
