A 27-year-old man accused of exchanging a bottle of alcohol for sex with a teenage girl has waived his preliminary hearing.
Court records say the 14-year-old posted a message on the cell phone app Whisper saying she needed alcohol and would do anything to get it. Andrew Stephan of Olean contacted her an hour later. In the early morning hours of April 24, 2016, they met in the parking lot at GGB Elementary School, where they had sex in his father’s truck. Stephan then gave the girl a bottle of vodka.
Stephan had originally been charged with statutory sexual assault, which is a first-degree felony. That charge was dropped, and he is now charged with unlawful contact with a minor – prostitution related, which is a third-degree felony. He’s also charging with patronizing a prostitute, corruption of minors, and furnishing alcohol to a minor, all misdemeanors.
