A World War II veteran and member of the Seneca Nation was awarded the French Legion of Honor at the Marvin “Joe” Curry Veterans Pow Wow over the weekend.
96 year old Ralph Elliot Bowen, the oldest living member of the Seneca Nation was given the award and a diploma signed by the French President Emmanuel Macron.
Bowen is the second Native American, and the first Seneca, to receive the award. It was awarded to him for his role in liberating France from Nazi occupation 75 years ago.
