A petition on Change.org is calling for the creation of a “National Trick-or-Treat Day” on the last Saturday of every October.
The petition, which has more than 150,000 signatures so far, calls for the creation of an extra day of festivities “so families across the country can participate in community parades, throw neighborhood parties and opt for daytime Trick or Treating”, according to the campaign page.
Among the reasons organizers want the change is safety. They say there are 3,800 Halloween-related injuries every year.
The Halloween and Costume Association will launch the #ALLoween campaign designed to support the all-day celebration of National Trick or Treat Day AND the time-honored traditions of Halloween on October 31st.
