Pennsylvania State Lawmakers have introduced legislation to do something about the teacher shortage across the state. According to Senator Wayne Langerholc, the new bill would simplify the process of gaining certification for out-of state teachers; it allows anyone who has completed state-approved teaching programs from accredited institutions to get in-state certification.
Additionally, the bill would allow for anyone that hold a valid certificate from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards or who has qualifying scores on content tests that meet the Dept of Educations requirements to obtain certification.
