The person who died of COVID-19 in Forest County on Tuesday was inmate at the state correctional facility in Marienville.
The Department of Corrections isn’t releasing the man’s name but say he was 65 years old and had underlying medical conditions. He was taken to a hospital on Sunday. He had been an inmate at SCI-Forest since September and was serving a sentence of 10- to 20 years for burglary.
The prison currently has 10 inmates and 19 staff members with active cases. The inmates are either in isolation at the facility or in hospitals. Staff members are isolating at their homes.
