Hoarding conditions hindered firefighters who were battling a blaze that destroyed a Coudersport home Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters say the two-story house was engulfed in flames when they arrived, but they could only fight the fire from the outside because of the hoarding conditions. After they got the blaze under control about an hour later they were able to get inside the house. They were on the scene for about two more hours.
The owner was home when the fire was started but was able to escape and was in a side yard with neighbors when firefighters arrived. The person was taken by ambulance to UPMC Cole for treatment.
Port Allegany, Shinglehouse, Ulysses, and Roulette firefighters assisted.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined yet.
