The Washington Nationals dog-walked the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-1 at Nationals Park last night on WESB Sports.
Washington starter Patrick Corbin pitched 8 1/3 innings, allowing one run and eight hits. He struck out seven and walked one while going at least eight innings for the first time since Aug. of 2019.
Pittsburgh starter Tyler Anderson meanwhile, gave up a 5-run first inning capped off by Yan Gomes grand slam. Former Pirate Josh Harrison singled in the first run of the game.
Phillip Evans doubled home the Pirates’ run in the seventh. Ben Gamel, Erik Gonzalez and Bryan Reynolds all went 2 for 4 on the day as the team left 8 runners stranded on base.
Pittsburgh 3B Colin Moran remains day-to-day after leaving Sunday’s game because of lower back tightness. Moran has played 38 of the clubs 66 games this season.
The Pirates are now 23-43 on the season after losing the last 9 in a row, and will next send RHP Chase De Jong to the mound for the finale of the three-game series today at 3:40.
