The name change for the Pittsburgh Steelers home venue is now official.
The team announced yesterday that the stadium, known as Heinz Field since it opened in 2001, will be known as Acrisure Stadium beginning this season.
Terms of the new 15-year deal were not officially released, but it’s reportedly worth $150 million, more than tripling the 20-year $57 million deal they had with Heinz. Acrisure, which operates as a top-10 global insurance broker, has grown its revenue to more than $3.8 billion in just over eight years. It also has the naming rights to an indoor arena being constructed near Palm Springs, California.
The Kraft Heinz company said in a statement yesterday, “While we worked diligently with the Steelers for several months around a new naming rights deal, they found a new partner willing to pay significantly more than we could justify. While our name will no longer be on the stadium, Heinz will remain a significant, long-term sponsor of the Steelers and we’re excited to announce the details of our new partnership in the days ahead.”
