The Jacksonville Jaguars topped the New York Jets 19-3 in New Jersey last night on WESB Sports.
Last year’s No. 1 overall draft pick Trevor Lawrence finished 20 of 31 for 229 yards and ran for 51 yards, including a leaping touchdown, on seven carries for the Jaguars, who moved within one-half game of skidding Tennessee in the AFC South. Jacksonville would win the division title with victories in its final two games — including the season finale against the Titans.
Last year’s No. 2 pick Zach Wilson went 9 of 18 for 92 yards with an interception and a dismal 41.9 rating for the Jets, whose playoff hopes took a devastating hit with their fourth straight loss. Wilson was booed all the way to the bench, replaced by practice squad QB Chris Streveler in the third quarter.
The Jaguars improve to 7-8 on the season and will next play at the Houston Texans on News Years Day. The Jets fall to 7-8 and will play at the Seattle Seahawks.
