Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby will team up with longtime rival Alexander Ovechkin in the breakaway competition in the NHL’s All-Star Skills event today.
Participants for all competitions were announced yesterday by the league. The breakaway competition will be staged at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Fla., and will include former NHL goaltender Roberto Luongo, Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner, Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak and Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk.
The other participants are listed individually, but Crosby and Ovechkin will be “teaming up,” per a press release from the league.
Crosby is also scheduled to participate in an event called Splash Shot on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, where players shoot at targets to attempt to dunk their opponents.
The All-Star Game event, a three-on-three tournament between players from the league’s four divisions, is tomorrow.
