The Florida Panthers edged the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 last night in the 4th overtime of Game 1 in the NHL Eastern Conference finals.
Just as the game appeared to be heading to its 5th extra period, Matthew Tkachuk scored in the final seconds of the 4th OT to give the Panthers the 1-0 series edge.
Florida won its seventh straight road game in these playoffs and improved to 5-0 in overtime. Game 2 is tomorrow night in Raleigh, less than 48 hours after the teams played more than two full games worth of hockey, with last night’s game lasting roughly 6 hours.
