The Pirates have acquired Alika Williams from the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Pirates traded for the infielder, exchanging pitcher Robert Stephenson. Tampa Bay drafted the 24-year-old Williams 37th overall in the Competitive Balance A round of the 2020 First-Year Player from Arizona State University. He has a .254 career batting average, including 39 doubles, four triples, 20 home runs, and 131 RBIs in 211 games in the minor leagues.
Williams has been assigned to the Pirates’ Triple-A team in Indianapolis.
