UPDATE: 2:30 PM 7/4
A train derailment early Tuesday morning in Mt. Jewett could take “days” to straighten out.
According to reports, 5 cars of the train jumped the tracks, blocking Center Street. The cars apparently stayed upright, and the Mt. Jewett Police said that there was no risk to the community from the incident.
Drivers are being advised to use Lumber Street as an alternative route. There is no firm timeline for when the cleanup process will be completed, but the borough did release a statement saying “Center St maybe [sic] closed for a few days.”
