The retired Bradford School teacher whose obscene yard signs and alleged disruptive behavior have been a center of debate for multiple years is now facing criminal charges.
Bradford Police Chief Mike Ward has filed a criminal misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct — unreasonable noise against 72-year-old Nancy Fire in connection with noise complaints at her home address. Fire was convicted in absentia in March on disorderly conduct and harassment charges.
Neighbors allege that Fire makes loud and unreasonable noise at all hours of the night. While complaints have been filed with the City against Fire’s yard signs, the City has said they are considered protected free speech.
Fire is due to be arraigned on July 12th.

I walk my dogs past this house every day. Disgusting! There are ways to handle things, whether it involves the law or city politics (all referenced on her signs), but this isn’t how you go about doing it. It’s a disgrace to decent people everywhere. I don’t know who she has a beef with and, honestly, I don’t care, nor does anyone else in the city who’s not involved. The city’s children certainly don’t need to see this filth. As someone who taught children, including my own, she should understand that. This kind of conduct is not going to solve anything, except making a bigger fool of herself than she already has. I see the disgust in her neighbor’s faces every time I see them. If those are the goals, mission accomplished!
