Two people were injured and two show horses killed in a collision on Route 417 in Portville Monday afternoon.
According to Portville Engine Company #1, firefighters responded to a report of an accident shortly before 3:00 and discovered that the collision was between a box truck and a pickup truck towing a loaded horse trailer.
Two patients were taken to Olean General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the horses’ owner, two of the horses were killed in the collision and a third hospitalized. The driver claimed that the accident happened when a third vehicle pulled out in front of her.
Crews were on-scene for about two hours while the vehicles were removed and the scene was cleaned up.
