A historic home in Olean was severely damaged by a fire Sunday.
The “Conklin/Mountain House” was built in 1886 for the Conklin family, who established the Conklin Wagon Works that made the horse-drawn wagons used for the westward expansion of the United States. The house was listed on the National Historic Register.
A family was displaced and eight people, including two firefighters, were injured in the fire. There were no fatalities but the family’s dogs perished in the blaze.
A GoFundMe has been set up for the victims. You can find a link to it here.
