A controversial proposed injection disposal well in Cyclone has been approved by the Department of Environmental Protection.
Catalyst Energy, Inc., has proposed converting a gas production well on Route 646 in Cyclone into an injection disposal facility, which will bring fracking waste from across the state into Cyclone to be reinjected into the depleted well.
The proposed disposal well was the subject of a heated public meeting in September, where residents objected to the proposal, saying it would further contaminate the municipality’s wells.
The permit was approved on January 11th, but the DEP did not report the approval until this morning. A copy of the permit can be found here: Catalyst UIC Well Keating Township
