Two Cattaraugus County residents are facing federal charges related to child pornography.
U.S. Attorney Trini Ross announced Tuesday that 55-year-old Allegany man David A. Johnston, and 26-year-old Olean woman Kayla R. Kio, were arrested and charged by criminal complaint with conspiracy to produce child pornography.
Kio had claimed during a domestic incident that her ex-boyfriend Johnston had requested that she produce and send to him sexually explicit videos of a 5-year-old child. Investigators allegedly recovered videos of child pornography and sexually explicit communications exchanged between Kio and Johnston.
They both face charges of endangering the welfare of a child, including further charges of possessing or promoting a sexual performance by a child. Johnston had previously been convicted of indecent assault and corruption of minors in McKean County.
Following their arrest, Kio was released on home detention, while Johnston is being held pending a detention hearing on Thursday.
