Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced charges against Seneca Resources, LLC, Friday morning, following multiple violations of Pennsylvania’s environmental protection laws in several counties, including McKean County.
Three separate criminal complaints were filed regarding the natural gas company’s violations relating to improper waste management practices and policies, totaling 72 counts of violations of the Solid Waste Management Act and 42 counts of violations of the Clean Streams Law.
According to Attorney General Sunday, “Every Pennsylvanian has a constitutional right to pure water, and these cases resulted in violations of those rights.”
One set of allegations involves Seneca’s operations in a number of counties, including McKean County, which the Department of Environmental Protection warned were not in line with Pennsylvania law.
The case is being prosecuted by Chief Deputy Attorney General Rebecca Franz.
