A Ulysses man has been charged with murder connected to the July 2024 death of a 5-year-old Coudersport boy.
30-year-old Andrew Schuyler Jeffers is charged with third-degree murder, felony involuntary manslaughter, one second-degree and two first-degree counts of aggravated assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, one first-degree and two second-degree felony counts of endangering the welfare of children in the death of Waylon William Shutt, a young child suffering from cerebral palsy, who succumbed to cardiac arrest at Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
Pennsylvania State Police received an allegation of child abuse from Potter County Children and Youth Services on July 5, 2024.
Upon the boy’s death, the Montour County coroner’s office was called in to assist with the investigation, ruling the death a homicide.
Jeffers was allegedly supervising Waylon and three other children near the 200 block of A Frame Road in Sweden Township on July 2, 2024 where assaulted Waylon, causing brain bleed.
Jeffers was remanded to Potter County Jail without bail.
A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 23.
