A Bradford man was charged today with abusing three dogs in the woods near Tuna Avenue.
City of Bradford Police charged 57-year-old George K. Jones with neglect of animals, animal cruelty and disorderly conduct.
The charges stem from the report by a concerned hunter of abandoned dogs on the hill in a makeshift campsite near Tuna Ave.
Jones claimed to live at the campsite with the dogs only leaving them unattended during the day, however officers found no evidence of people being around the animals.
The three dogs were found to be extremely malnourished with their scrap wood and tarp shelter completely buried in snow.
One dog in particular, was near death, unable to walk and had to be carried down the hill, unfortunately dying not to long afterwards.
When Sgt. Shephard told Jones that the dogs would be seized, he allegedly became irate and disorderly, leading to his arrest.
The City Police took immediate care of the two surviving dogs, transferring them to the SPCA.
Jones was remanded to McKean County Jail on $10,000 bail.
